Dear Claire
Here is the annual photograph and letter/drawing I normally send at the end of the year. This year there is no report due to the disruption caused by COVID 19.
I think all the sponsored students are looking really well considering the challenges of this year.
Yesterday, January 15th, the government announced what all children born in 2013 must register for Primary to start on Monday next week. This includes your Josepha.
They plan to put the children with others who started in Primary 1 last year, but who have not been in school since March 2020. Apparently, they will all start again as the government says those who were in school last year will have forgotten everything.
Quite how this will work remains to be seen as the children who were there last year were in classes of up to 50 children but staff in Kigali are worried about authority reaction if they do not comply. If it happens that there are no places and our children cannot go then I will let you know.
It means that our children will not have completed their nursery year. We will support them as best we can as they will not be going to state school all day. We will provide additional teaching and activities as before.
The children will also eat with us and we will provide uniforms materials and pay the state school fees.
Your sponsorship covers all of this including the holiday clubs which we run for the students.
Many thanks indeed for your continued support for your student.
Stay safe and well.
