Leadership Coaching with Lexia
Environmental compliance specialist Lexia Solutions Group enlists the support of Acorn Coaching and Development to work with directors and managers to forge more effective team working on major projects.
A UK leader in environmental compliance and risk management for public and private clients across the construction sector, Lexia grew out of the provision of specialist services for dealing with asbestos.
The group now embraces four separate limited companies that offer services ranging from environmental compliance inspection, reporting and training, through asbestos removal, demolition and specialist equipment manufacture, hire, service and supply.
Increasingly, the Lexia group of companies work together on major projects. The aim of the Acorn involvement is to enable the organisation to offer clients seamless project management through improved communication, more efficient working practices and group business focus.
Lexia’s vision to be the market leader in the provision of environmental compliance, contracting and support services to the built environment is captured within the group’s "In Pursuit of Excellence" programme. At the heart of this initiative is the Directors’ and Senior Managers’ Leadership development programme, led by Acorn.
The six month programme delivered by Acorn Coaching includes:
- A 360 degree feedback process giving the Directors/Managers a picture of where their strengths lie, and identifying key development areas to become better managers and better leaders of the business.
- Residential weekend courses applying key leadership and coaching skills during practical management exercises as a group.
- Each participant delivering a Business Project which they think will add value to the enterprise.
The client says:
Lexia Group Managing Director, Chris Pygall: “Acorn very quickly grasped the needs of our business and the leadership development programme is already delivering many benefits for the individuals taking part and for the business generally.
The combination of office-based coaching, ‘classroom’ teaching, practical off-site workshops and the business project is an ideal way to equip our managers with the tools needed to take our company on to the next stage of development."
Programme attendees say:
"The leadership programme has been a real eye opener, particularly the feedback from the 360. It has really provided me with a focus on where I can improve my communication and management. It’s now up to me to use this valuable information to benefit my department, the group and myself."
"We went through models of leadership and of high performing teams, then did practical exercises that put these into practise."
"The Lexia leadership programme has been a great success and has given the senior management teams some useful tools and experiences to put into practice in every day work life. Who’d have thought that radio-controlled human chess and abseiling are applicable to what we do? Well both required teamwork which is essential and not always easy to get right!"
