Graduate Coaching with Lend Lease - one of the biggest names in UK construction

Lend Lease (formerly Bovis Lend Lease) is one of the biggest names in UK construction.

From its foundation in 1885, the company's reputation for quality, innovation and commitment have earned it a large and loyal client base around the world and today, the company employs over 2,000 people in the UK with an annual turnover of £1.3 billion.

Background

A place on the Lend Lease company graduate programme is highly prized within the construction industry and Lend Lease offers a highly competitive package and an innovative learning opportunity geared towards identifying and nurturing leaders of the future.

Requirement

Having a proven track record of delivering successful programmes within the construction sector, Acorn were appointed by Lend Lease to provide their graduate programme. Our extensive experience meant Acorn understood the business, its issues, and the high standards and expectations it had of its new graduate intake.

Our role was to:

  • Drive home the importance of teamwork and its application at work
  • Increase the confidence and competence of the delegates when delivering client projects
  • Develop assertiveness and conflict management skills

Delivery

The programme delivered by Acorn's A2B team. Fast-paced and varied, it was designed to allow flexibility as it went along – this allowed the tutor to amend the content and introduce work-related issues.

Our tutors were carefully chosen for their experience in the construction industry and their ability to relate to new fast-track graduates with high expectations.

Results

The results showed that delegates were able to integrate into the workplace and add value to the business almost straight away.

New graduates were able to integrate into their new teams more quickly and effectively, with fewer difficulties being cited by key managers.

Feedback

Feedback from Lend Lease also showed that delegates of the A2B programme showed more commercial awareness, "business savvy" and were able to use their new skills and awareness back at work immediately.
